How the rabbit age formula works

Rabbits mature quickly and reach adulthood by about a year old — roughly 20 in human years. After that, each rabbit year adds around 6 human years, so a 5-year-old rabbit is about 44 and a 10-year-old is about 72. This calculator follows that stepped pattern rather than a flat "multiply by seven," which doesn't fit rabbits.

Rabbit life stages

Rabbits are usually grouped as baby/kit (under 6 months), young (6 months–1 year), adult (1–5 years), middle-aged (5–8 years), and senior (8 years and up). Well-cared-for pet rabbits — especially spayed or neutered indoor rabbits — commonly live 8 to 12 years.

"Bunny" and "rabbit" mean the same animal here, so this chart works for both. It's a general estimate for information and fun, not veterinary advice — breed and care affect how a rabbit ages.
